Texas Dealer Coufal-Prater Joins BBI Family

Lee Kilpatrick, Director of Sales and Marketing at BBI Spreaders, and Brian Hobson, the company’s territory sales manager for the southern United States, are proud to announce a new addition to the BBI dealer network in Texas.

Coufal-Prater, one of the premier farm equipment dealers in the Lone Star State, signed on with BBI this summer, stocking the company’s spreaders and replacement parts. With five locations serving Texas farmers from the Austin area to College Station, Coufal-Prater carries a broad range of farming equipment, from tractors and combines to sprayers, tillage, and harvesting equipment.

The company operates out of five locations in Temple and Taylor, along the I-35 corridor between Austin and Waco, as well as in Cameron, Navasota, and the Bryan location near College Station. Tim Prater is the owner of Coufal-Prater, while Phillip Hitchcock serves as the company’s general manager.

Key contacts for BBI customers will include Sales Manager Jason Gouge, Parts Manager Gilbert Resendiz, and Service Manager Tom Prater.

Coufal-Prater will begin stocking three key BBI spreader models aimed at the east Texas farming market, including Endurance, Grasshopper, and Liberty.  Endurance is BBI’s flagship hydraulic line of spreaders for application of manure, litter, and other organic materials. Featuring BBI’s proprietary Binary Manifold, Endurance achieves best-in-class precision and efficiency in litter application and is compatible with all precision agriculture technology platforms.

Grasshopper is BBI’s single-axle, pull-type spreader designed specifically for row crop applications of fertilizer and lime. This ground-wheel-drive, mechanical model is optimized for sod and turf farms, as well as top dressing of row crops.

The third spreader in Coufal-Prater’s initial lineup is Liberty, a tandem-axle, medium-capacity spreader for application of lime and fertilizer.  Like its brother Grasshopper, Liberty is a mechanical, ground-wheel drive model, features PTO or hydraulic-driven spinners as needed.

Hobson, who provides dealer services throughout Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma for BBI, is excited to have Coufal-Prater as the newest dealer in his territory.  “We are positively thrilled to have Coufal-Prater selling our products,” stated Hobson.  “They focus on providing expertise and equipment for farms of all sizes, from small farmers needing efficient equipment to large-acreage operations demanding high-performance equipment suited to precision ag applications.”

Kilpatrick says that Coufal-Prater is part of a new generation of BBI dealers, already dominant in many sectors of farm equipment, and using BBI’s products to win the day in the spreader market. “BBI stands proud in the Texas market with Coufal-Prater.  Tim Prater and company have built a very strong dealership, keeping customers and their needs first.  You can see their commitment to matching customers with the best products for their use, along with great support in parts and ongoing service needs. This relationship will be a winning proposition for Coufal-Prater, BBI Spreaders, and most importantly, farmers in the eastern and central Texas.”
